Over the past year or so, there’s been much discussion about the planned Myrtle Beach Boardwalk that is now set to begin construction in the very near future. Tourists and residents alike agree the Boardwalk could be what Myrtle Beach has been missing all these years – an iconic attraction that connects businesses along the oceanfront and creates “downtown atmosphere” beyond just a street full of hotels and condos. Initiated by the Downtown Redevelopment Corporation, the Boardwalk is set to begin construction as soon as September, pending all final agreements. Roof top bars, street performers, sidewalk cafes, and a variety of shops are all part of the vision for this project. If all goes according to plan, the Boardwalk could be completed by Easter of 2010. Check back with us for updates as construction moves along! Photos courtesy of The Sun News.
